Cool, unsettled weather will persist today as low pressure remains parked off the New England coast.

On and off showers and drizzle will continue for much of the day today. Much of this will fall as snow this morning, with rain mixing in during the afternoon.

Snow accumulations are not expected during the daytime hours. Still, a few roads may be slick early this morning.

Northwest winds will increase today, reaching speeds of 10-15 mph. Top gusts should be around 30 mph.

Temperatures will struggle in this environment, and many parts of the county will not escape the 30s. Higher elevations will be in the mid 30s, while lower elevations will be in the upper 30s. A few places may just manage to hit 40 degrees.

This evening, temperatures will slowly back off. More snow will mix in, though some areas will continue to see rain showers overnight. No more than a light dusting of snow accumulation is expected.

Overnight lows will be near or just above the freezing mark.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: A few more rain showers, mixing with a little snow early. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Sunday: Some morning clouds giving way to sunny skies. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Monday (Eclipse Day): A mix of sun and thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Tuesday: Sunny early with some clouds late. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.
