High pressure centered over the lower Mississippi River Valley will extend northeast through the Ohio Valley and into Central New York today.

This setup will bring us a sunny but cool day.

Sunshine will be abundant throughout the day. The best chance for a few stray clouds will be during the morning hours. No rain will fall, though.

Clear skies are more likely during the afternoon, extending into the evening hours.

With the center of high pressure far to our southwest, winds today will be out of the northwest. The wind will not be strong, with speeds just over 5 mph. Top gusts will be around 20 mph.

Temperatures will rise, but not too quickly. Look for afternoon highs mostly in the upper 40s, though a few spots may be able to briefly hit 50 degrees.

Winds will go calm this evening, allowing temperatures to quickly fall through the 40s and into the 30s.

After midnight, a few clouds will be possible. Winds will also redevelop from the south. Both of these factors will slow the freefalling temperatures. Look for morning lows in the low 30s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Increasing clouds. Maybe a late shower. Morning lows around 30. Afternoon highs near 60.

Wednesday: Rain showers likely. Temperatures in the mid 40s early, then falling to near 40 degrees in the afternoon.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Friday: Mostly sunny. A few late clouds. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
