Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (April 25th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Thursday’s events:

Varsity Baseball: Cortland vs. Adirondack & Elmira Heights

The Cortland Purple Tigers played a double header in the “PBR Diamond Series” on Thursday at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex. 

Cortland won both of their games against Adirondack and Elmira Heights. 

Cortland beat Adirondack with a score of 13-0, and defeated Elmira Heights with a score of 17-7. 

With these two wins, Cortland improved to an overall record of 9-3.

According to Cortland’s athletic website, their next game will be played at the NBT Stadium against Mexico on Tuesday (April 30th) at 5pm. 

Varsity Baseball: Marathon vs. Union Springs

The Marathon Olympians lost both games of a double-header against Union Springs on the road on Thursday. 

Marathon lost the first game 12-2 and the second game 14-4. With these two losses, Marathon now holds a 2-7 record.

Up next, Marathon will play Southern Cayuga at Marathon’s high school field on Monday (April 29th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Softball: Cortland vs. Central Square & Lansing

The Cortland Lady Tigers played a double header in the “PBR Diamond Series” against Central Square and Lansing on Thursday. 

Cortland lost their first game against Central Square 9-2, but won the second game against Lansing 12-2. 

With their results, Cortland now holds a 3-3 record.

Varsity Softball: Marathon vs. Tioga Senior

The Marathon Lady Olympians have fallen to an overall record of 3-8 after losing to Tioga Senior with a score of 19-1.

According to Marathon’s athletic calendar, Marathon will play a double-header on Saturday. Their first game will be against Union Springs at Union Springs high school at 10am, and their second game will be against Trumansburg at Trumansburg Central School at 4pm.
