High pressure will keep a firm grip on our weather today as it passes overhead and moves toward the Mid-Atlantic coast.

Skies will be sunny once again today. Only a few passing thin clouds are expected during the daytime hours.

Yesterday’s light north winds will be replaced by light south and southeast winds today.

Temperatures will end up about 10 degrees warmer, more a result of losing the north wind than the southerly wind actually doing much warming on its own.

Wind speeds will only be around 5 mph and frequently under.

Mostly clear skies will continue this evening, but a deck of clouds will move in after midnight.

South winds will also increase with speeds of 5-10 mph.

These factors should result in a warmer night tonight, with evening temperatures dropping through the 40s and overnight lows in the upper 30s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Cloudy with a band of afternoon rain showers. Additional showers and thunderstorms at night. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Maybe an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Maybe an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs near 80 degrees.

Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
