Man leaves scene of accident, gets charged with DWI (County Sheriff)

A man left the scene of an accident, which followed by him being charged with driving while intoxicated, according to a report.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s report stated that on Wednesday (May 8), officers responded to a car accident on McGraw Marathon Road in Cortlandville.

According to the report, Michael J. Warner, 25, of Marathon, fled the scene of the accident prior to officers’ arrival. Warner was a short distance from the scene and found intoxicated.

Along with a DWI charge, Warner was also charged with driving with .08 of 1% or more of alcohol and reckless driving (misdemeanors). He also received violations of driving across hazard markings, failure to keep right, failure to use a designated lane, no license plate, unsafe tires and for leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Warner was processed, released and is now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on May 20.
