CCI construction workers have begun the process of removing the temporary asphalt in downtown Cortland today (May 13).

According to Crown City Rising, construction crews are removing the asphalt on Main Street from the intersection of Groton Avenue and Clinton Avenue to Court Street and West Court Street.

This will result in no on-street parking for both sides of Main Street in that area work is being done. The work will also cause traffic delays on Main Street, with alternating lane closures in place.

The removal of temporary asphalt in that section of Main Street is expected to go through Monday, but weather delays could stretch the project into Tuesday.

The work will also result in Groton Avenue being closed at Main Street today. People looking to access businesses on Main Street are asked to use West Court Street to Haskell Place and park in the Groton Avenue parking lot.

Orchard Street at Main Street is also closed to traffic. The city will waive parking permit restrictions for Monday and Tuesday.
