Construction crews will keep temporary asphalt on one side of a street in the city of Cortland, as the reconstruction process begins on the other side of the street Tuesday.

According to Crown City Rising, crews from CCI are leaving temporary asphalt in place on Main Street from Groton Avenue to West Court Street. Since crews are working on reconstruction of the west side of Main Street, the temporary asphalt is in place to “help minimize mud” that could occur from the rain predicted in the forecast this week, the update noted.

Groton Avenue will remain closed at Main Street on Tuesday, while Orchard Street at Main Street will have periodic closures. People looking to access businesses on Groton Avenue are asked to use Main Street to Haskell Place and park in the Groton Avenue parking lot.

Parking permit restrictions are waived throughout Tuesday. Parking on the west side of Main Street is limited. Drivers are urged to use off-street parking in city-owned lots.
