The next weather system will approach the region today but will not fully arrive until the nighttime hours.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected out ahead of this system. The best chance for some glimpses of filtered sunshine will be during the morning hours. A thicker overcast is expected for the afternoon.

The first chance for rain will come toward sunset as some showers from Western New York try to move eastward.

These will weaken and dissipate as they do so, making it probable that it will remain mostly or completely dry until after sunset.

Showers will then increase during the evening and stick around through the overnight. The rain should be on and off and generally light.

Southeast winds will blow steadily throughout the day and night. Wind speeds may approach 10 mph at times, especially over the northern hilltops.

These winds will help keep temperatures mild, despite the clouds. Look for highs in the low 70s this afternoon, with only a slow drop through the 60s tonight.

Overnight lows will end up in the mid and upper 50s with showers lingering beyond sunrise.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Morning clouds and a few showers. Some afternoon sun. Morning lows in the mid and upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Sunday: Sunny with some fair weather clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Monday: Sunny with some fair weather clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Tuesday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
