Local baseball & softball sectional seedings announced (detailed game info included)

Section III announced their seedings and matchups for the upcoming baseball and softball sectional tournaments over the weekend. 

Local Cortland County teams will be competing in their respective sectional tournaments in the coming days. 

Below are the current matchups and seedings for all Cortland County teams in Section III:

Cincinnatus

Softball

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions earned the No.1-seed in the Section III Class D playoff tournament after ending their regular season with an overall record of 12-3. 

With their hard earned No.1-seed, Cincinnatus will have a first round bye. 

Cincinnatus is scheduled to host the quarterfinal round of the tournament at 5pm this upcoming Thursday (May 23rd) against the winner between No.8-seed Lyme and No.9-seed Brookfield. 

Lyme and Brookfield will play each other in the first round of the tournament at Lyme high school on Tuesday (May 21st) at 5pm.

Cortland

Baseball

The Cortland Purple Tigers ended their regular season with a 14-5 record, earning them the No.5-seed in the Section III Class A tournament. 

Cortland will play against No.12-seed Carthage in the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday (May 21st) at 5pm. 

The game will be played at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex in Cortlandville.

Softball

The Cortland softball team will be the No.8-seed in the Section III Class A tournament after ending their regular season with a 7-9 record. 

Cortland will play No.9-seed Oneida in the first round of the tournament at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex at 5pm on Tuesday (May 21st).

Homer

Baseball

The Homer Trojans will compete in the upcoming Section III Class A tournament as the No.10-seed. Homer ended the regular season with an overall record of 8-8. 

Homer is scheduled to play in the first round of the tournament against No.7-seed Central Valley Academy. 

The game will be played at Central Valley high school on Tuesday (May 21st) at 5pm.

McGraw

Baseball

The McGraw Eagles earned the No.5-seed in the Section III Class D playoff tournament, after ending the regular season with an 11-4 record. 

McGraw is now scheduled to play in the opening round of the sectional tournament against No.12-seed Copenhagen on Tuesday (May 21st). 

McGraw’s game will be played at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex in Cortlandville at 5pm on Tuesday.

Softball

The McGraw softball team will play in the Section III Class D tournament this week. 

McGraw will come into the tournament as the No.4-seed after ending their regular season with a 9-6 record. 

McGraw is scheduled to host No.13-seed Hamilton at Blodgett Mills this Tuesday (May 21st) at 5pm.

Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus

Baseball

The Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus baseball team is scheduled to play in the preliminary round of the Section III Class C tournament today (May 20th). 

Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus got the No.22-seed, as they ended the season with a 5-8 record. 

They will play against No.11-seed Frankfort-Schuyler at Frankfort-Schuyler high school at 5pm tonight.
