Varsity Softball: Top-seeded Cincinnatus beats Oriskany in sectional semifinals; to play sectional championship this week

The top-seeded Cincinnatus Lady Lions will be heading to the upcoming Section III Class D Championship game after beating No.5-seed Oriskany in the semifinal game on Saturday (May 25th). 

Cincinnatus won their sectional semifinal game with a score of 11-1 at Carrier Park Field in East Syracuse. 

Cincinnatus sophomore Payton Gerrard pitched the whole game, and recorded a total of 10 strikeouts.

The Lady Lions’ offense was led by Lucy Finch (3 runs, 3 hits & 1 RBI), Kayle Brenchley (1 run, 2 hit & 3 RBI’s), Payton Gerrard (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Hannah Ellerson (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Madison Stover (2 runs & 1 hit), Addison Stith (1 run & 2 hits), Neveah Billings (1 run & 1 RBI), Sailor Stith (1 run), Mandi Waltz (1 RBI). 

Oriskany was led by Brook Matys (1 run & 2 hits), Kaelyn Buehler (1 hit & 1 RBI), Peyton Buehler (1 hit), and Megan Wright (4 strikeouts thrown).

Cincinnatus is now scheduled to play in the sectional championship game against No.6-seed Sackets Harbor. 

Sackets Harbor upset No.2-seed Stockbridge Valley 2-1 in the sectional semifinals. 

According to Section III, the championship game will be played on Wednesday (May 29th) at Carrier Park Field in East Syracuse at 7:30pm.
