Homer boys lacrosse team falls in sectional championship game vs. Jamesville-Dewitt

The No.3-seeded Homer Trojans lost to top-seed Jamesville-Dewitt in the Section III Class C Championship game Wednesday evening. Homer lost the game with a score of 18-4 at Fulton high school (neutral site). 

Jamesville-Dewitt would take an early 4-0 first quarter lead. 

Homer was able to only score one goal by the end of the half, while Jamesville-Dewitt extended their lead to 12-1 at halftime. 

Six additional goals were scored by Jamesville-Dewitt in the second half. 

Even though Homer was able to score three goals in the final quarter, the game was out of reach for the Trojans.

Homer was led by Daniel Stiles (1 goal & 1 assist), Cooper Swartz (1 goal & 1 assist) Wyatt Wilbur (1 goal & 1 assist), Brycen Poole (1 goal), and Ben Bradshaw (21 saves). 

Jamesville-Dewitt’s goals were scored by Andrew Laubenstein (3 goals), Alexander Carolin (3 goals), Lucas Patchen (2 goals), Graham Kesselring (2 goals), Benjamin Porter (2 goals), Samuel Brazell (1 goal), Eli Goldberg (1 goal), Braeden Baker (1 goal), Ryan Babikan (1 goal), Sawyer McIntosh (1 goal), and Nick Miller (1 goal). 

With this loss, Homer ended their season with an overall record of 13-6. Jamesville-Dewitt will now be representing Section III in the state tournament. They will play against Section X champion Ogdensburg Free Academy in the regional round this Saturday (June 1st) at Fayetteville-Manlius high school at 2pm.
