The Homer varsity football team has a new head coach.

On Monday, the school announced that Greg Roskos will become the sixth head coach in the history of the Trojans’ football program. Roskos replaces Gary Podsiedlik, who retired a few months after more than 40 years of coaching.

Roskos previously coached at SUNY Cortland for 11 seasons. He held associate head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterback coach positions with the Red Dragons.

Aside from coaching football at SUNY Cortland, Roskos also coached at the University of Minnesota, University of Toledo, LaFayette College, Muhlenberg College and Lycoming College.

“Coach Roskos’ resume speaks for itself,” Homer athletic director Todd Lisi said. “We couldn’t be more excited for him to lead our program and carry on the Homer football tradition.”

The 2024 season for Homer will kickoff on Sept. 13 at home against New Hartford. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
