There will be a greater chance for showers and thunderstorms today as some atmospheric energy passes through the region and the heat dome starts to retreat to the south.

Thunderstorms will be possible at any time today thanks to the hot and humid conditions in place. However, the afternoon will be the prime time for thunderstorms.

Any storms that fire up today will have the potential for damaging winds and perhaps some hail. Frequent lightning, torrential downpours, and some localized flooding will also be possible.

Outside of any storms, skies will be mixed and hazy. Only light and variable winds are expected.

Temperatures will likely be a couple of degrees cooler than yesterday with highs mainly in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. The humidity will not let up though, with dewpoints in the 70s.

Evening temperatures will back into the 70s with overnight lows slipping into the upper 60s. A few showers and storms may linger into the evening, but most of the overnight should be quiet.

Friday: Scattered showers and storms likely, especially in the late morning and early afternoon. Morning lows the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Saturday: Scattered showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
