An overnight warm front has opened the region back up to humid air, which will culminate in a chance for thunderstorms and heavy rain later today.

The morning hours will be mostly quiet. Skies will be more cloudy than not, but a few breaks of sun will be possible.

Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s and low 80s by the early and mid afternoon hours. Dewpoints will be well into the 60s if not near 70.

Rain and thunderstorms will develop for the second half of the afternoon. A few strong storms will be possible with strong winds.

Heavy rain may be a bigger concern, though, with torrential downpours. A widespread, steady rain may also fall late in the afternoon into the evening hours.

By the time the rain tapers off, some areas may have between 1-2 inches. That could be enough to produce some localized flooding concerns, particularly in areas that saw heavy rain over the weekend.

Showers will continue to be possible overnight. Some areas of fog may also develop.

Overnight lows will back into the mid 50s as cooler air builds in.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Morning fog, clouds, and a few showers. Some afternoon sun. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: Sunny with some thin clouds late. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Saturday: Numerous showers and storms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Sunday: A few scattered showers. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
