Updates have been provided for various projects on Groton Avenue in the city of Cortland.

According to Crown City Rising, reconstruction of the western portion of the Groton Avenue parking lot, which is next to Hollywood Restaurant, rolls on. Access to the western half of the lot from Groton Avenue is closed.

The update noted that the eastern portion of the Groton Avenue lot is paving and striped, so parking is now available in that area. The eastern side of the lot can be accessed from Orchard Street.

Construction crews are continuing to install new traffic light foundations on Groton Avenue between Homer Avenue and Graham Avenue. Lane closures will be in effect, the update stated.

Crews will also begin to install stormwater piping on Groton Avenue between Graham Avenue and Otter Creek Place. Alternating lanes of travel are in place on Groton Avenue. The road remains restricted to local traffic, and all thru traffic should follow the signed detour route.

Noted in the update: “Please note: Road Closed Signs mean there is an active work zone ahead and there is risk to drivers and workers. Local traffic only signs mean that drivers are accessing business and addresses in the immediate work zone. Do not use Groton Ave to bypass the signed detour route. This is dangerous for workers and motorists alike.”
