High pressure will be in firm control of the weather today as its center slides overhead this morning and to the east this afternoon.

Temperatures are cool this morning but will rise steadily as a south-southeast wind combines with bright, sunny skies.

During the afternoon, the wind will become more southerly and better established. Wind speeds will not be strong, though, staying well under 10 mph during the day.

Occasional thin clouds will also move in this afternoon, mixing with and filtering the sunshine at times. No rain will fall.

Afternoon highs will rebound from the cool start to reach a high around 80 degrees. Dewpoints will remain comfortably low in the 50s.

Skies will remain partly cloudy overnight as wind speeds creep upward toward 10 mph.

Evening temperatures will drop into the 60s with an overnight low in the upper 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Sun, clouds, and a few evening storms possible. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Thursday: More clouds than sun. A few showers, especially early. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Friday: Showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a stray shower or storm. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
