Five people were arrested Tuesday in connection with a meth lab that was discovered inside a room at a motel room in Cortlandville.

Four people were charged with felony unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine in connection with the investigation.

Police found eight one pot meth labs at a residence in Cortlandville.

Pamela Lackner, 47, and John J. Rosen, 48, are accused of making meth at Lackner's residence at 86 Madison Street late Monday evening.

The explosion occurred at a home across the street from Parker Elementary School, police said.

A Cortland police officer who responded to the incident was treated at Cortland Regional Medical Center for respiratory problems.

Police and fire crews were called to a home at 40 Groton Avenue to respond to a neighbor's report of a "strong chemical odor."

Jacob Falso, 23, appeared in Cortland County Court Tuesday morning with his attorney, David Hartnett.

While searching their vehicle, officers found materials used to make meth, police said.

While the explosion caused "major damage" to the bathroom, no one was injured, according to police.
