A rape incident that was recently reported on the SUNY Cortland campus has been determined to be unfounded.

The SUNY Cortland University Police Department is seeking a suspect in connection with a reported rape incident that occurred on campus.

A SUNY Cortland student reported a rape incident that occurred on Sept. 28, according to the University Police Department.

The assault occurred in a remote area in the town of Preble, authorities said.

The suspect was known to the victim prior to the incident, police said.

Officials have not immediately released more details about the incident.

Casey Cleary, who was temporarily residing in the Rochester area, was located by authorities in Monroe County.
