CORTLAND, N.Y. – After a cool and gray Sunday, warm temperatures and dry conditions are expected to grace the Cortland area this week.

Highs are forecast in the lower 60s for Monday, reaching the mid to upper 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday.

From the National Weather Service in Binghamton:

"After lingering clouds and showers depart by Monday afternoon, a large high pressure system will build in to bring dry, warm weather for much of this week.

Our weather will once again be dominated by strong ridging both at the surface and aloft. The result will be dry weather under mainly clear skies with above normal temperatures for the latter part of the work week."

Highs are expected to reach in the early 80s by Thursday.

The only real uncertainty, according to meteorologists, is when the next cold front will arrive. For now, forecasters predict a batch of cold weather and showers to hit central New York by Saturday evening.
