GROTON, N.Y. – The driver of a vehicle that was involved in a fatal rollover crash was speeding and high on marijuana during the incident, court records show.

Naeem Clark, 19, is charged with felonies for second-degree manslaughter and second-degree vehicular manslaughter in the death of Brianna D. Copes, 18, of McGraw.
According to court documents, Clark was driving 75 to 81 mph in a 55 mph zone around 3:40 a.m. while driving in the town of Groton on Aug. 16.

The records show that Clark was "impaired by marijuana" when he drove off the roadway near 328 McLean Road and crashed into shrubbery that caused the vehicle to flip.
Copes died at the scene due to blunt force head injuries and another passenger was injured.
Clark was arraigned in front of Judge John C. Rowley on Dec. 22 and was released on supervision. He must check in with the court twice a week, according to the Tompkins County Clerk’s Office. His driver’s license was also suspended.
