At around 5:12 a.m. Monday, firefighters were called to a fully involved structure fire at a business on Route 11 in Killawog, a hamlet in the town of Lisle located just south of the Cortland County and Broome County line.

A passerby noticed smoke coming from the structure and notified authorities, according to Killawog Fire Chief Robert Spicer. Fire departments from Killawog, Whitney Point, Lisle and Marathon all responded to the scene.

The garage was used for storing tractors and other farm equipment by Martin Williams Repair & Restorations, according to Spicer.

It took firefighters nearly four hours to clear the scene, Spicer said. Route 11 was shut down for several hours Monday morning.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though foul play is not suspected, Spicer said.
