Dryden man charged with burglarizing home, stealing gun

DRYDEN, N.Y. — A Dryden man was arrested for breaking into a home and stealing a gun on Wednesday, according to the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office.

It is alleged that Christopher M. Merkley, age 27 of Dryden, unlawfully entered an apartment on North Street in Dryden and stole a gun. He was arrested at around 1:30 p.m. by investigators from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office. Merkley was charged with burglary, a class C Felony.

Merkley was taken before Judge Ravo of the Town of Dryden Court where he was arraigned.  Merkley has been remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $7500 cash or $15,000 Bond.  Merkley is also being held on a parole violation.
