CORTLAND, N.Y. — This weekend will mark a transition from mild, autumn weather to cold and frigid conditions throughout central New York.

Temperatures will hover around 60 degrees on Friday — a record-high for this time of year — but drop down into the 30s by Monday.

A strong cold front will arrive in central New York beginning Saturday afternoon and will be accompanied by some rain showers, marking a transition into colder weather through next week.

This will include "blustery northwest winds and some snow showers Sunday and Monday," especially for higher elevations, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.

While it's too early to say how much snow Cortland could get, we can expect frigid temperatures by Sunday night, with lows in the mid to upper 20s. Highs will be in the 30s on Monday.
