Authorities charge Freeville man with attempted rape

FREEVILLE, N.Y. — A Freeville man was charged with attempted rape over the weekend, police officials said in a news release.

Ray J. Dennis Jr., 47, of West Malloryville Road, was charged with felony first-degree attempted rape on Saturday, the Tompkins County Sheriff's Department. The charge comes at the conclusion of an investigation about an incident that happened in the town of Ithaca.

Officials have not immediately released more details about the incident.

Dennis was arraigned in the Town of Ithaca Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.  He is scheduled to appear at The Town of Ithaca Court at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
