Homer man in critical condition following bicycle accident

HOMER, N.Y. -- Authorities are seeking witnesses to a collision involving a pickup truck and a bicyclist that occurred Wednesday evening in the town of Homer.

At around 4:55 p.m., sheriff's deputies from Cortland County responded to an accident on Route 41 near Limerick Lane in Homer.

Responding officers arrived to find a bicyclist seriously injured. He was later identified as Kory Platt, 20, of Homer.

Platt, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck has been identified as Peter Knapp, 23, of Ithaca.

Both the bicyclist and the pickup driver were traveling southbound on Route 41, authorities said.
