This weekend: Cortland Chill-A-Bration returns

CORTLAND, N.Y. — Now in its 11th year, more than 1,000 people are expected to attend this weekend's Chill-A-Bration festival in downtown Cortland.

The event gives local restaurants and store owners a chance to showcase their culinary skills.

The festivities begin at 12 p.m. and run until 4 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 17. Twenty-three businesses will feature either a winter menu item to sample or chili entry to compete for the title of "Cortland Area's Best Chili" and "Favorite Winter Flavor."

Festival goers are encouraged to cast a ballot for their favorite samples by 4:30 p.m. One of the ballots will be drawn to receive $50 in downtown Cortland gift certificates.

The purchase of a $15 ticket includes 20 tasting tickets, 3 adult beverage sample tickets, a map, tasting guide, and a collectible spoon.

Proceeds from the event help support future Chill-A-Bration celebrations and allow the Cortland Downtown Partnership to present fun events that market the heart of our city, Historic Downtown Cortland.

Online ticket purchases are to be picked up the day of the event, beginning at 8 a.m. and lasting until 1 p.m. at the Local Food Market, 37 N. Main St., Cortland, N.Y. Online sales end Feb. 16

In-person cash or check sales begin Monday, Feb. 12 at the Local Food Market and at Cortland Beer Company at 16 Court St., Cortland, N.Y. In-person sales end at 1 p.m. on the day of the event.
