Homer woman charged with DWI following crash

CORTLAND, N.Y. — A Homer woman was charged with driving while intoxicated following a crash in the town of Cortlandville last week.

At around 5 p.m. Wednesday, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office responded to 3992 Highland Road in the town of Cortlandville for a one-car motor vehicle crash.

Kelly Sovocool, 43, was traveling north on Highland Road when her vehicle went off the roadway, striking a street sign and a fire hydrant, authorities said.

Upon further investigation, Sovocool was found to be intoxicated and driving with a suspended driver's license. She was not injured in the crash.

Sovocool was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, and aggravated unlicensed operator, all misdemeanors.
