A slow moving storm system over western Pennsylvania will bring "tropical moisture" into the Cortland area today, triggering heavy rain and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
A flash flood watch is in effect for Chenango, Cortland, and Tompkins counties until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

More rain combined with already wet conditions may cause flash flooding of small streams and overflow of ditches and culverts through Monday afternoon and evening, forecasters said.
The NWS recommends monitoring the latest forecasts in case a flash flood warning should be issued.
