CORTLAND, N.Y. — Rain from tropical remnants of Hurricane Florence is leading to flooding advisories in central New York.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a flood warning for a portion of central New York, including southern Cortland County, until 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Local law enforcement and weather spotters have reported flooding at several locations in the warning area. Roads were washed over and closed in many locations due to flooding.

Flash flooding will be ongoing for parts of the advisory area, especially in urban areas, creeks, and small streams, and areas that have already experienced flooding in recent weeks.

Locations that will experience flooding include Cincinnatus, Willet, and Whitney Point. Remember to avoid driving over flooded roads. Turn around if the roadway is flooded.
