Sheriff's Office: Cincinnatus man arrested for raping teen

 

A Cincinnatus man was arrested Tuesday on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl over the weekend, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

Cody B. M. Birtch, 24, of 3010 E Freetown Texas Valley Road, knew the girl and the crimes were committed between Friday and Sunday at a Cincinnatus residence, according to the department.

Birtch was charged with three counts of felony, second-degree rape and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He is also charged with second-degree criminal sex act, a felony.

Deputies arrested Birtch at 10:40 a.m. at the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, according to a news release. After an arraignment in Cincinnatus Town Court, Birtch was sent to jail on $500 cash or $1,000 bond bail. He is scheduled to reappear at 7 tonight in Cincinnatus Town Court.
