On Friday November 1 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, visitors are invited to explore the Cultural Council of Cortland County’s First Friday.

This month’s event features six participating venues, with a strong focus on visual arts. Guests can take a tour of the Dowd Gallery’s Beyond Places in Time exhibit, view works by David Beale and Friends at the YWCA gallery, explore previously un-displayed art and curios from the Wickwire collection at the 1890 House Museum, enjoy the opening of the 17th Annual Rock Garden Art Show in The Gallery at the Center for the Arts, and meet the Cortland Art League while perusing their collective works at the Cortland Free Library. Live music by Crown City Brass and light refreshments will be provided at the library. In collaboration with Magpie Custom Creations, Cinch Art Space will also be hosting a clothing swap and wine & cheese potluck. “Just bring the clothes you want to swap and, if you wish, a contribution to the snack table,” explains Cinch owner Tina Minervini.

All are invited to visit one or multiple sites over the course of the evening. “With free events taking place around the area, this month’s First Friday provides a great addition to a night out on the town,” notes Cultural Council Executive Director, Kat McCarthy. Hours for the event are typically from 5 – 8 pm, though visitors should consult the event map or Cultural Council website for details about each participating venue.
