Police: DWI's include Tully snowmobile incident

Arrested: Jonathan M. Diab, 25, of 5328 Almalfi St., Clay, Onondaga

Charges: Driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent, misdemeanors, as well as inadequate headlights, a traffic infraction

Details: Diab was driving at 2:05 a.m. Sunday on Port Watson Street, was pulled over for not having any working headlights and found to be intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08 percent, according to city police.

Legal action: Diab was arrested, processed, and released to reappear March 20 in Cortland City Court.

 

Arrested: Tashya L. Stevens, 30, of 25 Penguin Dr., Cortlandville

Charges: Driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent, misdemeanors, as well as taking an unsafe turn and driving an unregistered vehicle, traffic infractions

Details: Stevens was driving about 2 a.m. Sunday on Main Street when she made a unsafely wide turn onto Huntington Street and was pulled over by police, according to city police. Stevens was driving a vehicle with an expired registration and was intoxicated, with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent, police determined.

Legal action: Stevens was arrested, processed and released to reappear on Monday in Cortland City Court.

 

Arrested: Michael N. Piano, 45, of Tully

Charges: Operating a snowmobile while intoxicated, a felony. While the charge is normally a misdemeanor, it is enhanced to a felony if the defendant was twice convicted in the last ten years of operating a snowmobile while intoxicated, according to state Parks and Recreation Laws.

Details: State police responded to an incident involving Piano at 11:21 p.m. Saturday in Truxton and arrested Piano at 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, according to the police blotter. Further details were not available this afternoon.

Arrested: Grant C. Sterle, 21, 62 Owego Street, Apt. 1, Cortland

Charges: Driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent, misdemeanors, as well as going through a red light, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and refusal to take a breath test, traffic infractions

Details: Sterle was driving at 1:45 a.m. Saturday on River Street when an officer spotted him failing to stop at the intersection with Clinton Avenue and pulled him over, according to the Cortland Police Department. The officer observed Sterle had an open alcoholic beverage in his vehicle and asked Sterle to take an alcosensor screening, which he refused, police said. It was later determined Sterle was intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08 percent, according to police.

Legal action: Sterle was arrested, processed and released to reappear on Monday in Cortland City Court.
