Cortland County Sheriff’s Office investigates dump truck rollover in Homer

On April 23, 2020 at approximately 9:50 AM, Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Route 11 and Frederick Ave., in the Town of Homer, for a dump truck roll over.

Richard D. Carter Jr., age 43 of Cortland, was operating a 1999 International dump truck with an attached boom, owned by Carter’s Tree Service, when he attempted to make a left turn and the boom became entangled in overhead power lines causing the truck to overturn. Mr. Carter was uninjured and no citations were issued. The vehicle was up righted and removed from the roadway quickly. Homer Police Department and the NYSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit assisted with the investigation.
