Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, April 24

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, April 24, 2020:

Today’s weather will improve as low pressure along the East Coast pulls away.

Showers behind the low will continue this morning but will taper off and move east before too long. The area should be dry by midday.

The afternoon will stay rather cloudy, but a few glimpses of sunshine should break out before sunset.

Winds will start the day from the east before backing to the north in the afternoon. Wind speeds will be between 5-7 mph with top gusts reaching 18-20 mph.

Despite the northerly winds, a lack of cold air behind the coastal low will allow temperatures to warm. Look for highs to reach the low 50s this afternoon.

Evening temperatures will fall through the 40s and into the 30s under clear skies.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Sunshine filtered through thin clouds. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Sunday: Rain, possibly mixing with or turning to snow. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Monday: A few morning showers, then turning sunny. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon lows in the low 50s.
