Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, May 19

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, May 19, 2020:

A sprawling area of low pressure will continue to meander away from our region as it heads into the southeastern United States.

This low will be too far away to bring any rain to the area, but skies will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day.

That being said, most of the clouds will be higher in the atmosphere, and thus thinner, so it should be a bit brighter than yesterday.

The clouds will persist into the evening before finally heading south just before dawn Wednesday.

Winds will be similar to yesterday, coming from the east-southeast at 5-10 mph. Top gusts will be around 25 mph.

High temperatures will respond to the thinner clouds by rising several degrees warmer than yesterday, reaching the mid 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Thursday: Lots of sun. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Friday: Sun early, then a few afternoon clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Very small chance for a pop up afternoon shower. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
