CORTLANDVILLE --- An Ithaca man is in stable condition this afternoon in a Syracuse hospital after a two-car accident Saturday at the entrance of Price Chopper in Cortlandville, according to officials.

Brian J. Kenna, 61, was injured when he failed to stop at a traffic light while traveling north on Route 13 and rear-ended another car stopped at the light, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the stopped 2017 Buick — Matthew J. Wells of Cortland — and his passenger were uninjured, stated Lt. Karl Altmann in a news released.

The Cortlandville Fire Department used a large cutting tool to remove parts of Kenna’s 2011 Nissan Altima so that they could safely remove him from the car, Altmann said.

Kenna was taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment for a head injury, he said. A TLC Emergency Medical Services ambulance responded to the scene.

Altmann noted this morning the crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.

Stupke Towing and CNY Towing also assisted at the crash, he said.
