Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, June 10

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, June 10, 2020:

Heat and humidity will peak today before a cold front moves through during the overnight hours.

Temperatures will quickly rise this morning and the humidity will be noticeably muggier than yesterday. Highs should easily reach the upper 80s to near 90 degrees with dewpoints increasing to near 70 degrees.

The biggest question on the day will be whether that heat and humidity get turned into afternoon thunderstorms.

There will be some very weak disturbances in the atmosphere that may trigger some scattered storms this afternoon. Given the weak nature of these, more widespread storms are not expected.

Frequent lightning, heavy rain, and some gusty winds or small hail will be possible with any storms that pop. Most areas will probably not see storms, though.

Winds will be blustery today, coming from the south at 10-15 mph. Top gusts will reach or slightly exceed 30 mph.

As the cold front moves through after midnight, a few more showers or even a rumble of thunder will be possible, but meaningful rainfall will probably be hard to come by.

Expect a very warm, muggy night with temperatures staying in the 70s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:
