CPD: Syracuse man arrested for teen's rape

City police announced today the arrest of a Syracuse man for raping a 16-year-old city girl in February.

Dillan Taylor, 22, who normally resides in Syracuse but also has a 1 Kingsley Ave. address, was arrested on a warrant at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Cortland Police Department.

Taylor used physical force to rape the victim on Feb. 11 at a location in Cortland, reportedly choking her during the attack, according to the department. Taylor and the girl were acquainted before the rape, said Lt. Michael Strangeway.

The girl was not treated for any injuries after the assault, Strangeway stated.

Taylor was charged with first- and third-degree rape, as well as first-degree sexual abuse, all felonies. He was also charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.

After his arraignment, Taylor was sent to the Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He was still incarcerated as of this afternoon.

Taylor is scheduled to appear at 2 p.m. Tuesday in City Court.
