Cortland Weather Outlook: Sunday, October 4

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, October 4, 2020:

Another weather system will make its way towards our region today.

The main impacts from this system during the day will be increasingly thickening clouds. Some sun will be possible through the morning hours, but as time goes on, the sunshine will become less.

A few stray showers could pop up this afternoon, though anything that forms may have a hard time reaching the ground before it evaporates. Anything that does make it to the surface will be light and drizzly.

South winds will blow at 5-10 mph with the occasional gust around or over 20 mph.

The south winds will nudge temperatures into the upper 50s during the early to mid afternoon hours. Later in the afternoon, temperatures will drop if evaporating precipitation occurs, as evaporation is a process that cools the atmosphere.

Clouds will remain thick tonight and the chances for rain will increase. Temperatures will be slow to drop through the 50s and into the 40s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Monday: Scattered rain showers, especially in the morning. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Tuesday: Sunny until some late clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Wednesday: Cloudy with periods of rain. Breezy. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs near 60.

Thursday: Breezy and cloudy with on and off showers. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.
