Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, October 9

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, October 9, 2020:

High pressure will take control of our weather today.

This will result in lots of sunshine throughout the day. Only late in the day will some thin clouds begin to move in. Some haze from wildfire smoke will also be possible by the late afternoon.

No rain is expected today or tonight.

The high will be centered to our south over the Mid-Atlantic. The clockwise flow of air around the high will result in southwest winds of around 5 mph today. Top gusts will be around 20 mph.

The sunshine and wind will help temperatures kick off a warming trend. Highs today should be near or just above 60 degrees, though some northern hills may end up just shy of 60 degrees.

Temperatures will drop to the low 50s this evening, but the clouds and an increasing wind will keep temperatures steady through the overnight.
