Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, December 1, 2020:

The area of low pressure that brought rain to the area yesterday is now stalled out long the north shore of Lake Ontario.

Over the course of the day, moist air will wrap around the low and back into Cortland County.

This will lead to scattered bouts of precipitation, some of which may start off as some rain, but will ultimately end up as snow.

None of today’s precipitation should be overly heavy and no daytime snow accumulations are expected.

Outside of any showers or flurries, skies will remain cloudy.

Temperatures will slowly fall through the day, ending up in the mid 30s by dinner time. Most of the day will be spent around 40 degrees.

Winds will be from the southwest at 10-12 mph. Top gusts on the day should be near 30 mph. Little change in the wind is expected tonight.

This evening, temperatures will drop to around 30 degrees. Snow showers will continue, possibly with a coating of accumulation.

Thursday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Friday: Mostly cloudy. A few showers or flurries. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs near 40.

Saturday: Morning snow showers, then just cloudy. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.
