Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, December 8th

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, December 8, 2020:

After a cloudy start to the day, a wind shift this afternoon will open a brief window of opportunity for some sun.

Before that happens though, northwest winds will blow at around 10 mph with gusts to 25 mph. These winds will keep the clouds and a few more lake effect flurries in the region through the morning and into the early afternoon.

No snow accumulation is expected, though any freezing drizzle that mixes in could cause a few slick untreated surfaces.

Late this afternoon, winds will turn to the west over Lake Ontario, removing the moisture source for the clouds. Some clearing is possible before the sun sets, though new clouds will be streaming in from the west by the evening.

It will be another chilly day with highs failing to reach 30 degrees for the third consecutive day. Evening temperatures will fall into the mid and low 20s before coming back up to near 30 degrees overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Cloudy with snow showers likely. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Thursday: Morning clouds and perhaps a flurry. Then, some late sun. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Friday: Sunshine filtered through thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Maybe a rain shower. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.
