Officers with the Homer Police Department are currently investigating a personal injury auto accident (car–pedestrian) that occurred at the intersection of Albany Street and South Main Street on Friday, December 4, 2020 at approximately 6:41pm.

Witnesses reported that a red colored pickup truck, that was traveling south on South Main Street, made a left turn onto Albany Street and struck the 61-year-old female pedestrian as she was crossing Albany Street in the crosswalk. The pickup truck left the scene of the accident and was last seen traveling east on Albany Street towards the intersection of Locust Avenue and Lighthouse Hill Road.

(Update: the pedestrian is in stable condition and is still being treated at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse).

Members of the Homer Fire Department, New York State Police and officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Based on witness interviews and follow-up investigations, officers have determined that it appears that the pickup truck involved the accident, is a newer model, maroon, Dodge Ram quad-cab 1500 with running boards. Attached are photographs of a similar pickup truck.
