Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, December 12, 2020:
An area of low pressure will move from the Ohio Valley this morning to the western tip of Lake Ontario tonight.
Out ahead of this low, clouds will be plentiful throughout the day. A stray shower will be possible in the morning, but the better chance for rain will come during the late afternoon and early evening.
Scattered showers are likely then, but no heavy or long-duration precipitation is expected.
Winds this morning will be from the southeast at 5-10 mph, but will turn more southerly this afternoon with speeds nudging up to around 10 mph. Top gusts on the day will be 20-25 mph, with higher elevations seeing the strongest gusts.
The wind will help temperatures some, but without the sunshine, it will not be as warm as yesterday. Look for afternoon highs to reach the mid 40s.
Tonight, temperatures will retreat a couple degrees but will stay in the low 40s through the night.
