Cortland Weather Outlook: Monday, February 8

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, February 8, 2021:

A quiet but chilly day will start off the new week before more active weather moves in.

A few lingering lake effect clouds this morning will gradually give way to increasingly sunny skies. By this afternoon, there should only be a few scattered clouds left, if even that.

A stray flurry early this morning cannot be totally ruled out, but these will be few and far between with no impacts.

The sunshine will warm temperatures from the cold start, but highs will still only reach the low to perhaps mid 20s this afternoon.

Winds will be light from the southwest at around 5 mph. Late in the day, winds will become more southerly, remaining at about 5 mph.

Clouds will start to move back in this evening ahead of our next weather maker. A little light snow may even start to fall after midnight.

Temperatures this evening will drop to around or just under 10 degrees, but will hold steady through the overnight.

Tuesday: Light snow throughout the day, but increasing in intensity late. Accumulations of 3-5 inches. Morning lows near 10. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Wednesday: Morning clouds and lake snows. Some afternoon sun. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs around 20.

Thursday: Cloudy. Late snow. Morning lows in the mid 0s. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Friday: Morning snow gradually tapering off. Moderate accumulations possible. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
