The Cortland Purple Tigers improved to a 2-1 record after defeating ESM (East Syracuse Minoa) in three sets on Saturday, March 27th.
It was close during the first set, with Cortland winning it by 7 points. Cortland went on to win the second set as well, 25-13.
ESM was not ready to give up yet, but the Tigers were still able to take the third set with a close score of 25-20 for the win.
Marissa Parzynski and Lexi Zaeck led the Tigers. Parzynski ended the match with 5 kills and a block, while Zacek had 4 kills and 5 aces.
ESM was led by Laura Sitnik (6 kills and 8 digs) and Alana Day (3 kills, 2 digs, and 13 assists).
“This was the first match this season where everyone got to see at least a little court time,” said Cortland Head Coach Cheri Olson. “Once again we have a very deep roster. The girls work really hard in practice and are getting better each day. As a coach it is really nice to see the things we work on in practice being utilized in the games.”
