Cortland Weather Outlook: Monday, April 5

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, April 5, 2021:

A logjam in the atmosphere will keep our weather sunny again today.

This atmospheric backup will actually cause the weather system that moved through a couple days ago to creep back to the west toward the New England coast today.

While no precipitation or even any clouds will make their way this far west, some slightly cooler air on the backside of that system will.

Nonetheless, temperatures will only be a couple degrees cooler than yesterday, topping out in the low 50s. A few areas could still sneak into the mid 50s.

The presence of that low will also kick up the wind a bit. Winds will be from the northwest at around 10 mph, but a few gusts could reach 30 mph during the early and mid afternoon.

A few thin clouds from the west may work their way in late, but they will dissipate as the sun sets, leaving clear skies for the evening and overnight.

Nighttime temperatures will back down into the 30s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Tuesday: Sunny with just a few late clouds possible. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Wednesday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Thursday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a few showers. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs near 60.
