The #4 seeded Marathon Olympians suffered a tough 1-7 loss against #2 seed Schenevus in the Section IV Class D Sectional Finals.
The Olympians were the first ones to get on the board at the top of the third inning thanks to Brie Carter, who hit a solo home-run.
However, Schenevus quickly bounced back to take the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Carter’s home-run was Marathon’s only scoring run of the game. She also went 2-for-2 from the plate, while Brook Morsey went 2-for-3 from the plate for Marathon. Kaitlyn Mitchell recorded 3 strikeouts in the game.
Schenevus’ pitcher Cassie Snyder threw a total of 4 strikeouts. She also recorded two RBI’s after hitting a single in the sixth inning to add to her team’s comfortable lead before going into the final inning of the game.
