Local High School Students Competing in Clay Target League Nationals

A handful of local high school students are competing in the 2021 USA High School Clay Target League National Championship this week in Mason, Michigan.

Eight students from McGraw High School are competing in the national tournament, including:

  • Mason Allen
  • Lucas Allen
  • Jaydon Bassett
  • Blake Bergey
  • Benjamin Stull
  • Lindsey Watrous
  • Blake Weeks
  • Zander Weeks

Kyle VanWagenen of the Cincinnatus Central School District is also competing in the week-long event.

Each student qualified for nationals through their regular-season averages (averages are based on 25 clay birds per event): VanWagenen (23.0), Mason Allen (22.6), Stull (22.0), Lucas Allen (21.4), Zander Weeks (21.1), Bassett (20.9), Blake Weeks (20.3), Bergey (19.7), Watrous (15.7).

Each student will practice Wednesday and Thursday. The individual qualifying rounds are set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the individual championship round is slated for this Sunday at noon.

The Cortland Voice will provide results for each student competing in the national tournament.
