Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, September 4

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, September 4, 2021:

High pressure is moving through the area today and will bring us pleasant weather and warmer temperatures.

No rain is expected during the daytime hours today with the high pressure in control. Sun will mix with clouds throughout the day. Most of the clouds will be small or thin, leaving ample sunshine.

With the high overhead, winds will be nearly calm much of the day. Late in the afternoon, a southerly breeze will kick up as the high passes to the east.

The sunshine and lack of the cool northwest winds of the last two days will allow temperatures to bounce back with highs in the mid 70s.

The south wind will increase to 5-10 mph this evening with a few gusts to 20 mph. Clouds will also gradually increase tonight.

These factors should keep temperatures from getting lower than the mid 50s during the middle of the night. A couple degrees of warming may take place before dawn.

Also coming in between midnight and dawn will be a batch of rain showers. No heavy rain is expected.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Sunday: More clouds than sun. Showers with some afternoon thunderstorms. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Monday: Sun, clouds, and scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Wednesday: Some rain showers early. Then, some afternoon sun. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
